Work to develop Trauma Center protocols and ensure that all trauma policies, procedures, and guidelines are reviewed and revised at a minimum of every three years.Monitor state and regulatory requirements as related to trauma care and develop plans of action for any gaps in participation.Oversee and assist the TMD with the Multidisciplinary Peer Review Committee for the Trauma Center.Oversee and assist with the Performance Improvement Program for the Trauma Center.Serve as the Injury Prevention Coordinator for the Trauma Center.Work with Emergency Department EMS Liaison to review and provide feedback on trauma related EMS cases.Serve as organizational representative at local, regional, and state trauma-related meetings and events.Analyze registry data and implement strategies for performance improvement.Enter and maintain all required data in the trauma registry system and track all pertinent information including arrival times and activations.Respond to trauma team activations that occur and assist the team in patient care when necessary.Serve as a liaison to hospital administration, departments, and staff involved in trauma care to facilitate participation, collaboration, and quality improvement.Review financial reimbursement data for trauma care and develop strategies to improve the success of the program, in conjunction with ED physician and administrative leaders.Works with ED Director to plan for and manage Trauma Center expenses, capital and supply needs, trauma team staffing and training, and development of goals and objectives related to trauma care.Supports and adheres to Hospital’s policies, procedures, philosophy, and mission, applying customer service standards and excellence in attitude and behaviors in performing all job responsibilities.The TPM will serve as the Injury Prevention Specialist and may also serve as the Trauma Center Registrar. The TPM has overall responsibility for meeting all local, state, or national Trauma requirements of participation as well as supporting both the Emergency Department Director and TMD in the ongoing review of staff, processes, and outcomes. In specific patient treatment situations, such as cancer pain treatment, hospice care, and major trauma rehabilitation, patients can be exempt from these new prescribing rules.The Trauma Program Manager (TPM) works in collaboration with the Trauma Medical Director (TMD) of the Trauma Center to oversee and manage participation in the state trauma system. Under new law, opioid prescriptions for the treatment of acute pain and postoperative pain management cannot exceed a seven-day supply. This helps combat the issue of prescription fraud and prevents a potential substance abuser from obtaining unnecessary amounts of controlled substances.Īnother law introduced was the establishment of opioid prescription limits. One of the new regulations includes the requirement for prescribers to write prescriptions on tamper-resistant prescription pads. Many of these newly introduced laws and regulations target ongoing prescribing practices in South Carolina. Services include outpatient counseling, intensive outpatient services, and intervention programs for those facing substance abuse related charges. Using a variety of treatment strategies, the GCADAC works with other state and local agencies to provide quality services to the general public as well as high-risk populations, such as the homeless. Serving the area since 1973, the commission works to be a leading local provider in substance abuse prevention, intervention, and treatment services. The Georgetown Alcohol and Drug Abuse Commission (GCADAC) was created to help reduce deadly substance abuse numbers experienced across Murrells Inlet and the surrounding Georgetown County area.
